~ love lingers when the heart remembers to touch the light leaking from the soul

r. m. drake

Closeness.  Familiarity.  Affection.  Warmth.  Togetherness.

I’m sure there are a million other words I can use…..

But in today’s dating world…..this is almost nonexistent.

But why though??

Is it because we think we don’t deserve it?

Is it because we’re jaded?

No…..it’s because some of us are only looking for instant gratification.

<insert sad face emoji here>

It’s like you can’t go out on a date nowadays without being expected to give it up.

Or be felt up.

Or go to third base.

You just can’t go out and “enjoy” each other’s company.

There’s always an underlying ulterior motive on someone’s part. Either the man or the woman.

I can’t tell you how many men I’ve met that tell me they want to be in a relationship and then ask me to be their FWB in the same sentence.

Whether you’re single or in a relationship, you want to get close to someone you find attractive, interesting and/or sexy.

But intimacy…..intimacy can take that shit to a whole new level….

IMG_7224You know that moment after sex?

The safety you feel when you’re lying in his arms.

Your breathing has the same rhythm as his.

He’s running his fingers up and down your arm as he’s holding you close with the other.

The quiet.

That……that’s what I crave.

When he looks into my eyes and I know he can see inside my soul.

The soft kisses that make me weak as soon as his lips touch mine.

The way my body tingles when he looks at me and smiles.

The way he knows exactly what I’m thinking.

The way the whole world disappears when I’m lying in his arms.

Yesssss…..I’d like more of that please!!

But where can I find that?

Can someone please point me in the right direction??!

Or maybe send a smoke signal my way?!!

Or should I just be like whatevs and go with the flow?

I believe intimacy is at the center of all great relationships.

IMG_7226So I’ll wait…..

For the one whose soul attaches to mine.

For the one who gives me butterflies.

For the one who motivates me.

For the one who stands with me.

For the one who believes in me.

For the one who loves me unconditionally.

For the one who finishes my sentences.

For the one who keeps me laughing.

For the one who wipes my tears.

For the one who will stop at nothing.

A lot of my friends (and myself!) have benefitted a lot in their relationships through affirmations and “law of attraction.” This blog post is a great start! Take some “me time” and sit down with yourself, and write on a piece of paper exactly what you want out of your ideal partner. Make them specific but also achievable (i.e. obvi don’t write down: he has 6 pack abs, biceps 30″around, purple eyes, and one leg slightly shorter than than other). Get reeeeal specific. About appearance, about his hobbies, about what you two do together, about what he does that makes you feel good, etc. And most importantly, write these like you already have him (you might even add in some details about natural small “negatives” that come in all successful relations — e.g. I always have to remind him to put the cap back on the toothpaste, because sometimes he’s forgetful. [or] When he gets angry with me he always purses his lips and makes this totally bewildered face. It’s actually cute in a way.) Then after writing your specific goals, reflect on them. Read them again every couple of days. It may sound weird, but by writing down the specifics of your goals its been proven you are WAY MORE LIKELY to achieve them. This is because when your goals are clear and specific to you, your subconscious mind is more likely to notice things in your environment that set you on that path. Hope this helps!

Thank you!! Affirmations are amazing & I definitely believe in the law of attraction.
